The head of the Free Patriotic Movement, MP Gebran Bassil, wrote on the X platform: “As soon as Lebanon recorded a bright spot in its record of abolishing the death penalty, it recorded a failure against justice when its parliament approved a general amnesty law for the third time, encouraging impunity, while a number of the oppressed are supposed to be pardoned.” He asked: “How do you, the 24-member government, demand that the army fight Hezbollah and terrorism while you pardon its killers?”
